Course Description:

The course has been developed by the Mauritius College of the Air and offers a new perspective and thematic development about parenting.

The course has been adapted to the beneficiaries of the MPRB to complement the learning of the students in the vicinity.

The targeted students are offered the key information about the different important key features to better equipped the students to be better parent. The lessons are interactive sessions and offers a huge real life example and how parents should act and react in such situation. 

The sessions would be divided in 12 sessions and would contain video lecture, and would focus on discussing the different parenting problems.

  • Lesson 1: Becoming Parent

    Session Description:

    Becoming parents is a dramatic change. The lessons showcase the parents on how to manage the change. This lessons focus on the change of becoming parents. The lesson takes the first instance of the first responsibility of becoming parents. 


  • Lesson 2: Mother and Child Relationship

    Session Description:

    This lesson stresses on how within the first few minutes of the birth the biological and emotional relationship is formed between the mother and the child. Mothers are equipped by the different steps and mechanism undertaken by Doctors to monitor the different reflexes and reactions by the baby.


  • Lesson 3: First Year of the baby

    Session Description:

    Parents are provided the training about better understanding about the indicators and reaction by the baby. The UNICEF consultant stress on how the images and facial expressions morphed the different development stage of the baby..


  • Lesson 4: Independency and Movements of the child

    Session Description:

    The lessons showcase the different steps that will bring the independency and the movements of the child. Using the different examples the UNICEF consultant brings a new approach towards helping the parents of how to understand the development of the child.


  • Lesson 5: The second year of the baby

    From the first few lessons, the parents are more equipped with information about the parenting steps. In this lesson, the focus is how to maximise the development of children and the parents as well. The lesson stress on providing the most appropriate supportive environment by minimising the ill effects such as smoking and drinking and their effect on the children


  • Lesson 6: Entering Pre-Primary school

    Session Description:

    After the development of children at home with the parents, the child needs undertake a new step in his life and undertake the educational path. The consultant stress on the how the family should be the educational institution by excellence.


  • Lesson 7: The Game

    The lesson explains on how the games are different at the different ages. The consultant explains on how the child should be supported in developing and creating new actions by their games. The consultant explains on how the different games and being imaginative would bring a new development in the child.


  • Lesson 8: Role of a Father

    The lesson would welcome the different factors would be affect the role of the father in the new family structure. The lesson explain more on the responsibilities of the father and how the father and the mother can complement each other for this new adventure.


  • Lesson 9: Intelligence Development

    The lesson showcase the different stages of how to develop the intelligence in the child in the first few years. Developing the senses of observation, memory and how to process the information based on the different information given. Parents are more aware by the different brain process which are developed in the child.


  • Lesson 10: Education and Primary Cycle

    The lesson explain how the new life and cycle can be more definitive for the children. The lesson takes the example for international learning environment for a more appropriate learning. The lesson explains about the different stages for the learning cycle and how parent can support their children learning. With concrete examples, the lessons stress on the different factors that influences the learning.


  • Lesson 11: Physical disabilities and Mental disabilities

    A parent having a child who was born with a physical disabilities or any type of disabilities can be a difficult factor. The lesson equipped the parent on how to self-monitor whether there is a disability in the child. The lesson equipped the parent on what are the indicators for diagnosing the child. 


  • Lesson 12: Parent and Child Relationship

    Session Description:

    A parent and child is often delicate and can often mark the children for the whole life. The lesson stress on about the communication strategies to increase the information dissemination between the parents and children. The lesson embeds different examples on how to maintain a good communication and taking the basic communication strategies and how to manage the different situations to handle the different situations at home.
